Two educators new to the Worthington school district will become
principals of Wilson Hill and Granby elementary schools this
fall.
Jamie Lusher will take the helm at Wilson Hill, replacing Pat Reeder, who retired last year. Jason Spencer, an assistant principal with a school district in Orlando, Fla., will be principal at Granby, taking the place of Linda Dawson, who also retired. Both were hired at the April 12 meeting of the Worthington Board of Education. The salary of each will be $88,317 a year. Lusher has been at New Albany Middle School since 2006. Before that, she taught third grade and seventh-grade science in Canal Winchester. She has a B.S. in elementary education from the University of Akron; a master's of education in administration from Ashland University; and is completing her dissertation on Principal's Receptivity to Response to Intervention at Ohio University. In college, she was an award-winning basketball player for the University of Akron Zips from 1996 to 2001. She was a Gatorade Scholar-Athlete; an Academic all-Mid American Conference winner; a Women's Excellence in Higher Education recipient; on the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team; and was a Lady Zips scholar-athlete. Spencer has been with the Seminole County Public Schools in Orlando since July 2007. From 1999 to 2007, he taught in the Orange County Public Schools in Florida. He taught sixth-grade mathematics; fifth grade; and high school algebra. Spencer has a B.S. in Education, elementary education, from Bowling Green State University; a master's of education from Stetson University; and a Ph.D. in educational administration from Capella University. Like Lusher, he was a college athlete. He was on the track and field team at the University of Toledo in 1995 and on the Bowling Green University football team from 1996 to 1998. He has coached track, football, and weightlifting at middle and high schools in Florida. |
