Keith Schlarb is one of the unsung heroes of the Worthington School
District.
With the help of a small support staff, he maintains the vast technology
infrastructure of this $105 million dollar operation, both on the
administrative side and the academic side, and he does it in the most efficient
way possible.
When this community trusted Keith with bond fund dollars in 2006 to upgrade the
technology infrastructure, Keith paused, allowed each building input into what
technology would have the most impact on their students and started the rollout
of a multiyear plan for technology infusion all the while maintaining the
existing infrastructure, supporting and enhancing home grown administrative
software, rolling out parent-teacher communication software in the elementary
schools and E-sembler in the secondary schools
while still finding time to research and implement best practices for the
technology component of each building's 21st century renewal effort.
In addition to all of this, Keith is a friend to the Worthington taxpayer, constantly looking for innovative ways to
stretch the IT dollar while still meeting the growing and changing needs of our
district. Prior to the passage of the bond issue, Keith did yeoman's work in
stretching our computers long past their useful life and continues, every day,
to look for efficiencies that will honor the taxpayers trust by making every
dollar count. For all this and more, there is no one more deserving of the
BOE impact award than our director of information technology, Keith Schlarb.
