Board Member Vacancy

 

On November 7, 2006, Board Member Gary Tyack was elected as a judge on the 10th district court of appeals. Because Ohio Law does not permit one person to hold both a school board seat and a seat on the court of appeals, Gary will be resigning his school board seat on or about January 30, 2007. This creates a vacancy which must be filled. According to Ohio law, it is the responsibility of the four remaining board members to appoint a replacement for the remaining 11 months of Mr. Tyack’s term. An election will be held in November for the seat.

 

Our process in selecting the new board member is designed to be as public as possible. In a nutshell, this is the process.

 

1) Distribute supplemental questionnaire

2) January 16, 2007 - District will post supplemental questionnaire responses. Click here to email your opinion to the board

3) January 17, 2007 - Board will screen candidate applications and questionnaires and select semi-finalists

4) January 22, 2007 - Semi-finalists will participate in public forum at Kilbourne Middle School at 7pm. Click here to submit a question for the candidates at the forum.   

5) January 29, 2007 - Board will select finalists

6) January 30-31, 2007 - Board will interview finalists

7) February 5, 2007 - Board will make decision
